The initial Chrysler Sebring model was introduced as coupe version in the model year 1995. The convertible version joined the lineup in 1996.

It was designed on the platform of Chrysler JX platform, and served as a replacement to the Chrysler LeBaron.

First Generation (1995-2000)

The first generation Dodge Sebring model was offered in both coupe and in convertible versions. The standard engine to both the models was a 2.4 liter I-4 version, while it also offered 2.4 liter turbo charged I-4 and 2.5 liter V6 as optional.

The sole transmission to all the engines was 4-speed automatic.

As far as the exterior dimensions of Dodge Sebring model are concerned, it had the wheel base of 106.0 inches, length of 193 inches, width of 70.1 inches and height of 54.8 inches. The Sebring model was related to Plymouth Breeze, Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Cirrus versions. The brand name, Sebring was first used by Plymouth division.

Second Generation (2001-2006)

The second generation Chrysler Sebring model was also called as Volga Siber in Russian market and Chrysler Sirrus in Mexico. It was designed and produced based on Chrysler JR platform.

The available engines during the period were 2.4 liter EDZ I-4 and 2.7 liter EER V6. The sole transmission to the engines was 4-speed 41TE automatic. The exterior dimensions of the vehicle had been changed, wheel base was increased by 2 inches, and width by 0.5 inches, but the overall length of the model had been reduced by 3 inches.

The second generation Chrysler Sebring model was related to Volga Siber and Dodge Stratus versions. Coupe model was offered in 7-trim levels, the base model, LX, LXi, Touring, TSi, Limited and Signature series.

The 2001 Chrysler Sebring model was offered in coupe, convertible and in sedan forms. The second generation Chrysler Sebring model scored average ratings in the frontal crash tests conducted by NHTSA and poor ratings in the side impact tests.

Third Generation (2007-Present)

The third generation Chrysler Sebring model is also called as Chrysler Cirrus in Mexico. It is designed and produced based on the Chrysler JS platform.

The engine choices offered include 2.0 liter I-4, 2.0 liter TDI I-4, 2.4 liter I-4, 2.7 liter V6, and 3.5 liter V6. The available transmissions to the engines include 4-speed automatic, 4-speed automatic and 6-speed automatic respectively.

The exterior dimensions of the present generation Chrysler Sebring model have been changed. It has the wheel base of 108.9 inches, length of 190.6 inches and height of 59.0 inches. The 2009 Chrysler Sebring is related to Jeep Patriot, Dodge Journey, Jeep Compass, Dodge Avenger and Dodge Caliber.
